The challenge

4x Olympic Champion Michael Johnson launched Grand Slam Track to reimagine the sport. Only the fastest runners in the world. Rivals going head-to-head multiple times a year. Challengers breaking through and making names for themselves. And a league shouting the stories of these incredible athletes and their triumphs from the rooftops. They needed a digital platform that could match this ambition, and handle massive global attention from day one.


The solution

Working with product, technology, and marketing leads, we built a dual-purpose platform. Leading up to the inaugural season, the site educated fans on the league format while capturing and nurturing leads leading up to race days. For the Slams themselves, our mobile-first experience became a real-time data hub, making stats like splits and season records instantly understandable for track fans. Every design decision balanced the league’s storytelling needs with technical performance at scale.

Results

Through a combination of unique non-linear storytelling experiences, live data display, and autoscaling infrastructure to support hundreds of thousands of concurrent visitors, the Grand Slam Track site delivered for the league and fans alike. We continue to support Grand Slam Track, and look forward to building on what we accomplished with our partners in their first season.
